Ade: I've been calling her but her number is switched off Me: I'm sure she's fine,leme call her Tried calling but all nos switched off.I call Ade back Me: her nos are off o. Ade: hmm,Irene,I'm scared o.I think something has happened to Fadeke. Me: what do you mean? What's going on? Talk to me. Ade: I don't know but my spirit is saying something has happened.Pls pray for her Me: Ade,stop all this and talk. Ade: I don't know. Ade drops. I'm lost in thought/confused. Few minutes later,Jaiye calls. Me: hello,Jaiye,how far? Jaiye: (trying not to cry) Irene,what's going on? Me: (wondering what that meant) as how? Jaiye: Irene,talk to me now. What's going on? Me: what's all this about Fadeke this early morning now? Adesuwa just called asking after her and saying plenty. Its been a while,I just tried calling her but her phone's off. Me: (trying not to show I'm upset with all this) I've been on facebook already this morning and I didn't see anything from Uncle Wole. Jaiye: Irene, Fadeke is DEAD!!!!!! Me: (knocked off balance and trying not to fall) what did you say? Jaiye: Fadeke is dead. I just saw it on facebook Me: (trying to get a hold of myself) Leme check and call you back I go through facebook and,behold,its there!!!! Fadekemi Oyeyemi Van-Olasoji (nee Junaid) is gone leaving behind a daughter!!!!! My best friend,my sister from another mother is GONE!!!! I raced down to her house in Shomolu still thinking it was a bad joke.On getting there,two of her neighbours were talking discreetly but as they saw me disembark from the bike,they quickly dismiss.There and then,my fear was getting confirmed.I passed them and went straight to her door.Neighbours watched from a distance,not knowing how to ask if it were true.No response from my knocks and they finally summoned the courage to ask me.That was when I BROKE!!!! It is true,Fadeke has left me!!!
